Do You Support the Buffett Rule? [POLL]
Named for billionaire investor Warren Buffett, who has argued that he shouldn’t pay a lower tax rate than his secretary, the Buffett Rule would mandate a minimum 30 percent tax rate for any household which makes over $1 million a year.
But is the rest of country onboard with such an idea?
Next week, the Senate may vote on the regulation (it would also have to pass the House before it became law) and according to new survey from Gallup of 1,016 adults 60 percent of Americans are in support of Congress enacting the Buffett Rule. Thirty percent oppose the regulation and another three percent aren’t sure.
The bill is particularly popular with Democrats (74 percent support) and Independents (63 percent.) However, 54 percent of Republicans oppose the Buffett Rule.
