Dog Shot to Death After Attacking and Killing Texas Woman [VIDEO]

DAYTON, Texas (AP) — Officials have killed a dog that eluded them for almost two days after killing a Southeast Texas woman.

The Houston Chronicle reports a Liberty County deputy fired two shots that killed the dog on Tuesday night.

Authorities have said the stray that 63-year-old Linda Oliver had started feeding about two weeks ago turned on her Monday morning when she tried to stop it from attacking her dog.

Badly injured, she managed to call her husband, who called authorities. A responding deputy fired three shots at the dog when he twice charged him and an emergency medical technician, but the wounded dog fled, leading to the massive search.

Oliver lived in a rural home four miles north of Dayton, which is about 35 miles northeast of Houston.
