The USGS reports an earthquake has struck near Oklahoma City.

According to Morgan Moschetti, a research geophysicist with the US Geological Survey in Colorado, it is purely a coincidence that the two quakes occurred half a world apart within hours.  According to Moschetti,  "These earthquakes are completely independent.  There are earthquakes within the stable part of the continental US....east of the Rockies....but they are infrequent."  He went on to say that the quake 'swarm' that has recently plagued Arkansas is also an unrelated event.  We will continue to follow these events as they develop.
