School is about to begin and summer is coming to a close. The City of Lawton will close all splash pads and wading pools by August 13, however, the Aquatic Center will remain open through Labor Day.

On Thursday, the City of Lawton announced that the city's aquatic facilities would be winding down for the season, including the closure of some facilities for the season and an adjusted schedule for the Aquatic Center.

Lawton's Aquatic Center will remain open through Labor Day with an adjusted schedule.

On August 13, the Aquatic Center will continue to operate with an adjusted schedule through Labor Day. Below will be center's new operating schedule, starting August 13.

  • 7-9 a.m. Monday-Friday - Lap Swim and Senior Water Walking/Fitness
  • 8-9 a.m. Saturday - Season Pass Holders Early Entry
  • 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday - Public Swim
  • Noon to 1 p.m. Sunday - Season Pass Holders Early Entry
  • 1-5 p.m. Sunday - Public Swim

The City of Lawton will celebrate the final swim of the season at the Aquatic Center on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7, with special hours. Season pass holders will have early entry from 9-10 a.m. and public swim will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Most of Lawton's splash pads and wading pools will be closed by August 13.

Summer won't last much long for the City of Lawton's splash pads and wading pools. The Clement Washington Splash Pad officially closed on August 3 due to construction in the area. And starting August 13, the rest of Lawton's splash pads and wading pools will close for the season, including the Elmer Thomas Park and KidZone splash pads, and Mocine. Harmon and 35th Division wading pools.
