Oklahoma Weather Whiplash Has the Almanac Scrambling
Well, the Farmer's Almanac really shanked the forecast in January, wonder if their predictions for February will be any better?
While they've since pulled their January outlook from the website, they forecasted warm weather and a little rain.
Big swing and a miss.
More than half of the country saw temperatures below freezing, even in Florida, and tons of ice, sleet, and snow from Texas to Maine.
Oklahoma's February Almanac Outlook
Honestly, they might be trying to just cover all the bases...
Warm for a period, then very cold. Showers, maybe. Above average rainfall in portions of the state, below average in other portions.
Even for the unpredictable weather across Oklahoma, that's about as generic and half-hearted "We Don't Know" as we've seen in a long time. It just goes to show nobody really knows what tomorrow will bring in the Sooner State.
March predictions aren't much more specific... Rain, cool, warm, also chilly... I bet we could throw darts at meteorological flash cards and come up with a similar outlook.
Austin Bowling over at the Texoma Weather Lab has mentioned that while the warm and average SWOK winter temps are going to be nice, there's a good chance it's going to dip back into the freezing Arctic cold with our next big cold front in a week or 10 days. With his track record, I'm more inclined to put stock in that prediction.
