There are a lot of Halloween events around Lawton these days, but Z94, KLAW 101, and 1073PopCrush have a little bit of history with the best of them.

I think we’ve been at every SouthWest Auto Group Fall Festival since it was still the SouthWest Toyota trunk-or-treat... Handing out candy and generally getting ourselves into whatever shenanigans were happening that year. They even like to prank us once in a while, making the shy DJs judge the costume contests on occasion.

I’ve watched this thing grow a little more every time they do it, and at this point, it’s probably the biggest Halloween event in Lawton, and everyone is invited this year again.

The 5th Annual SouthWest Auto Group Fall Festival is happening Saturday, October 17th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at SouthWest Toyota out on Quanah Parker Trailway.

There’ll be the trunk-or-treat, games, a cake walk, costume contests and prizes, so there’s plenty going on besides just walking around collecting enough candy to put your parents into a sugar coma.

The costume contests are broken down by age, along with a family category. The family winner gets $250, while the winners in the individual age groups get $100, and it's a "Bring Your A-Game" sort of thing. The competition is always tight.

As a big bonus, if the extended forecast manages to hold together, we might even get some actual fall weather for it this year. Right now, Saturday is looking like it could be in the mid-60s after a serious cooldown next week.

Candy, costumes, games and chilly October weather? Hope to see you there!
