Big AT&T Data Breach Reveals Texas Customers’ Texts And Calls
More data has been breached from AT&T customers in Texas and beyond.
According to CNN call and text message records from mid-to-late 2022, and one day in January 2023 were compromised. The data includes almost all their customers and customers that share their networks.
Your data was likely compromised if you have one of the following providers:
- AT&T
- Cricket
- Consumer Cellular
- Straight Talk
- H2O Wireless
- Good2Go Mobile
Hackers stole logs of every phone number that AT&T customers called or texted, including customers of other wireless networks, the number of times they engaged with them, and for how long.
The Only Good News About This Data Breach
The only saving grace for this hack is that they didn't get the content of those calls and text messages. They also don't have the time that the calls or texts took place.
AT&T has been working with the FBI and DOJ since the data breach was made known to the cell provider in April 2024. They have already made at least one arrest in connection to the case. That could be why they are releasing the information now.
AT&T stock prices have already taken a small hit since the news broke. At the time of the breach, they had over 110 million wireless subscribers that potentially could have been affected.
