Looks like a high school in Oklahoma is no longer the 2024 champions after reviewing the tape.

Brendan King is getting a lot of praise after his story his going viral for his girl's basketball team in Oklahoma City. Brendan is the coach of  The Academy of Classical Christian Studies and his girl's compete in Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association. Last season, his team had a chance to win their first ever title.

The Griffins girls basketball team hit a buzzer beater three to secure the win against Apache High 44-43. After the game, Coach King reviewed the tape and it turns out. His girls did not win. Due to some issues with the scoreboard, the official score was not correct. Coach King added every bucket and he came out with a final score of 43-42, however it was Apache High that would have that 43.

Apache High Now the Champions for the 2024 Season

Coach King asked his team about doing the right thing and they all agreed. They would appeal their championship and ask the league to review the tape. The league's policy was once all scores are final, that's what the score is. Coach King got the appeal process through and gave the championship plaque back to Apache.

Apache head coach Amy Merriweather says her team is glad to have the title, but even happier for the hope that came with it. "It showed us, you know, there are still good people in this world," Merriweather said. "It's something we'll always remember."

We all know most head coaches would just let those extra points go away and let his team have that championship. Coach King deserves some recognition for the doing the right thing and showing his team what true integrity is.
