Every report I come across seems to highlight just how bad drivers are here in Texas. Surprisingly, this report says a Texas city is home to the safest drivers in the country.

Look, I’m a proud Texan. Always have been. But there are some things about my home state that I’m not proud of. One of those is the fact that there are a lot of bad drivers on the roads here. The statistics back me up on that one.

So, I was pleased as peach when I came across Allstate’s 2025 America’s Best Drivers Report. As you’ve probably guessed, I expected a Texas city to be ranked the worst overall in the report. But no, the Lone Star State isn’t even represented in the 10 riskiest cities to drive in.

Brownsville Named Safest U.S. City for Drivers

Instead, I learned that Brownsville is the safest driving city in the entire country. It gets even better for Texas bragging rights with Laredo being ranked as the fifth safest city for drivers in the U.S. McAllen and Corpus Christi also landed in the top 20. 

That’s right, hold your head high drivers in the aforementioned cities. Thanks to you, not all of the news concerning drivers in Texas is bad. For once, we actually have something to brag about in that category.

Truck Parking Club used National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data to rank the top Texas cities with the highest accident rates.
