Texas UIL Adjusts Enrollment Numbers, HUGE News for Wichita Falls
Big announcement from Texas UIL this afternoon and it will have a great impact on our Wichita Falls high schools.
It was exactly one month ago today that the Texas UIL announced their new enrollment numbers for sports conferences. Many Texas high school football reporters were covering the announcement saying that Legacy High School in Wichita Falls would be moving up to 5A Division I because of SIX STUDENTS. This means Legacy and Memorial would no longer be in the same conference.
Texas UIL New Enrollment Numbers for 2026
Looks like Wichita Falls was not the only ones complaining about the new school enrollment rules. They said multiple school districts were asking about this, but it looks like Legacy and Memorial will both be staying in 5A-Division II through 2028.
How Many Students Are Enrolled at the Legacy and Memorial?
- Wichita Falls Legacy 1836
- Wichita Falls Memorial 1605
The previous enrollment numbers to move up to 5A Division 1 was anything over 1,830 students. Yes, because of six students the Legacy Leopards would no longer be competing the Memorial Mavericks in the same conference. I'm not sure how many school districts the updated numbers affect, but adding those 40 students made all the difference for us here in Wichita Falls.
