Next time you're cruising through Oklahoma it could be on the Toby Keith Expressway.

An interesting piece of legislation in the Oklahoma House this week. A new turnpike project is being built in Oklahoma City called the ACCESS Oklahoma Long-Range Plan. It's a new interchange with access points to communities, widen existing turnpikes, update bridges and pavement and add three new routes in the Oklahoma City metro area to complete the Outer Loop and provide an I-35 reliever route.

Jason Blair of Moore, Oklahoma wrote the resolution to honor the country legend that is no longer with us.“Toby Keith was more than a country music star. He was a proud Oklahoman who never forgot where he came from,” said Rep. Jason Blair. “Naming this turnpike in his honor is a fitting way to recognize a man who represented our state with ultimate patriotism and generosity.”

The good news is that the resolution has moved onto the Oklahoma Senate for their approval. As always, we will wait and see if the politicians let this move through. If approved the Toby Keith expressway will run from Interstate 44 East to Interstate 35 near Indian Hills Road and continuing East and North to Interstate 40 at Interstate
335/Kickapoo Turnpike.

Toby Keith passed away on February 5, 2024 and this would be a great way to honor an Oklahoma legend. Do the right thing Oklahoma Senate, make the Toby Keith Expressway a real thing!
