Exploring The Forgotten Past: 10 Ghost Towns Of Texas
Throughout Texas' long history, the Lone Star state has seen many cities, towns and communities come to life and unfortunately die off. Many of these small towns and communities were created because of the westward expansion of the railroads.
Other towns popped up because of mining opportunities and of course the oil boom of the early 1900s. The Texas landscape was dotted with little towns because everything was booming and the industry was sustaining life and families. However, over time many of these towns' populations dwindled to nothing and all that remains are a few old buildings or the skeleton of what used to stand there proudly.
These former Texas boom towns are just a distant memory for most of us but they live on in the historical archives of the county they lived one thrived in. Abandoned and alone, these ghost towns are now being reclaimed by Mother Nature. You can visit them, but there's not much left to see or do, they're just a shell of what used to be.
