El Paso’s iconic Chico’s Tacos, known for its budget-friendly prices and uniquely delicious rolled tacos, has been hit by inflation. *cries in Spanish*

Yup. A recent post shared by FitFam El Paso compared current prices with those from 2019, revealing a significant increase.

Let’s Do The Math:

Back in 2019 a single order cost $2.40. Now, a single costs $4.81 with tax.

French fries were just $1.88 which meant if you had $5 you could get yourself a pretty decent meal back in 2019, but now $5 wont be enough to afford a single AND fries because fries now cost almost $4!

Look, the prices aren’t ridiculously high, BUT they are a pretty significant to locals who remember the days when you could feed the whole family for less than $20!

Chico’s Tacos was the place for an affordable meal:

For decades, locals made their way to Chico’s for an affordable meal that offered great taste without breaking the bank. However, with rising costs to meet demand, even this beloved restaurant has not been immune to inflation. However, inflation may be soaring, but Chico’s commitment to cash-only remains unshakable.

In the FitFam post, fans of Chico’s expressed both surprise and frustration over the price hikes. Once a spot known for feeding families on a tight budget, Chico’s now finds itself adjusting to economic pressures, much like many businesses across the country.

While the prices might be higher, the love for Chico’s classic rolled tacos remains strong. Yet, for El Pasoans who have counted on the restaurant for its affordability, the reality of inflation is hard to ignore.
