Miss USA Misses Opportunity To Look Like More Than Just a Pretty Face
The Miss Universe Pageant took place Sunday night. I didn't know it was happening until I read about it this morning. I was far too busy having a life to know or care, as I'm sure most of you were as well.
Part of me wants to dismiss what occurred with Miss USA, Nia Sanchez, as miscommunication. After all, guest panelist Manny Pacquiao's English isn't that good. Maybe Miss USA misunderstood the question. But she repeated it, at least the gist of it, back to him, so I don't think it was a misunderstanding in the sense of a language barrier.
She appeared to be the stereotypical empty vessel of a beauty contestant: all looks, no brains. Pacquiao was chosen to ask Miss USA a question. Her response has set off a firestorm on Twitter. Let's just say her answer was very 'Miss Congeniality' like. Watch and prepare to have a headache for the rest of the day.
