It's always sad to lose a friend or family member.  Losing someone you're close to is never easy.  Our friends at the Wichita County Sheriff's Office lost both recently.  Deputy Edward Nahquaddy, Jr.  passed away on Tuesday, November 1.

Ed and I had met.  We chatted at dozens of events over the past few years and even sat across from one another for a couple of meals at local events.  That was about the extent of my relationship with Ed.  I did not know him well, but I could see what a genuine friend he was to those around him.  I have yet to hear anyone say one negative thing about him.

The people who work with Sheriff David Duke are a close bunch, as much a family as they are friends and co-workers.  A loss like this leaves a void, no doubt.  His passing is sad, but those who knew and loved him take comfort in knowing that he is without pain and smiling down upon those who knew him.  And you can rest assured, a man like this has touched many lives in a positive way.  Our community has lost a great friend and law enforcement officer.  Ed, I wish I'd gotten to know you better.  Rest in peace, deputy.

Visitation will take place today at Comanche Nation Funeral Home, 2701 SW Ave J, Lawton, OK.  Burial will be at the Saddle Mountain Cemetery in Saddle Mountain Oklahoma.  Wichita County Sheriff’s Office Senior Chaplain and Wichita Falls Police Chaplain Mike Rucker will officiate.  The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and the Wichita Falls Police Department’s Honor Guard will be coordinating the service.
