An accident on Maplewood resulted in a second accident and will leave Maplewood from Kemp to Midwestern Parkway closed for at least several hours.  A red Chevy Z71 pickup rear ended another vehicle in the south bound lanes of Maplewood shortly before 1 pm Friday.

Those vehicles had moved to a parking lot when a Ford Escape driven by a 27 year-old female hit a slick spot on the road left behind by leaking transmission fluid from the red pickup.  The driver of the Escape lost control and slid into a utility pole.  A transmission line was snapped and the pole broken.

Police say none of those involved suffered serious injury.  City street crews, ONCOR Electric and WFPD remained on the scene as of 2 pm.  WFPD advises that drivers should be prepared to detour around the area for the next several hours while crews from ONCOR work to replace the pole and secure the electric delivery lines.
