Police ID Child In Hanging Death At Apartment Complex

Wichita Falls Police were called to the 5500 block of Professional Drive just before 3 pm Thursday.  According to WFPD Public Information Officer Joe Snyder, when 1st responders arrived at the scene, they found that a 5 year -old girl had been playing with a jump rope on playground equipment at the Highpoint Village Apartments.

Witnesses found the child hanging from playground equipment with rope around her neck.  After having been cut down, she was transported to United Regional Hospital by ambulance, but could not be resuscitated.

Police have now identified the child as Rebekah Catano.  Detective do not suspect foul play in the childs death.  Her body was sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners office for an autopsy.
