The Midwestern State University Mustangs mens basketball team wrapped up its preseason with an 89-56 victory over the Langston (Okla.) Lions.

MSU started the game well, jumping out to a 14-7 lead, including a crowd-pleasing Derek Kaster slam dunk. The Lions would recover in the first half, briefly taking a 24-23 lead at the 5:59 mark. The Mustangs answered by closing the half on a 10-4 run, with PG Monzaigo Williams scoring MSU's final 8 points as the Mustangs took the halftime lead, 33-28.

The Mustangs sprang from the locker room following halftime, jumping all over the Lions in the second half on 53% shooting. The 3-point arc was open for MSU in the final 15 minutes as well, the Mustangs drained 6 from downtown, pacing MSU to an 89-56 final score.

MSU point guard Monzaigo Williams lead the Mustangs with 18 points, while three other MSU players scored in double-digits. Langston PG Landon Gray scored 18 points, including going 8-12 from the FT line.

The Mustangs open their regular season Friday, November 8, on the road at the SWOSU Classic tournament, facing Southwestern Oklahoma at 4pm. MSU plays the following day at 8:30pm versus the East Central (Okla.) Tigers. You can find live game coverage of both games at www.msumustangs.com
