I'm letting you know right now, if you love baseball, go check these guys out. Went to my first game this summer and had a blast.

Congratulations to the Amarillo Sod Poodles!

What a year for the Amarillo Sod Poodles (which I am now a fan for life). The Sod Poodles won the Texas League Championship a few weeks ago, which is awesome. However, they just took home another trophy this week. They're the Minor League Organization of the year!

Check Out Their New Trophy!

What is Organization of the Year?

This award is given to the team that has the best experience in baseball. I have to admit, I had a blast when I went to a game in July. I went to a Frisco Rough Riders game a few years ago and thought...this was fine. I love baseball, but if I never went to anther Rough Riders game again, I wouldn't complain. I literally want to go to a Sod Poodles game every year. They have a cool stadium and you can't hate on a team called a Sod Poodle.

Proof I Went to a Game in Amarillo This Year

Me drinking a giant beer in their stadium they call Hodgetown. Super cool minor league stadium, which apparently made a ton of money this year off of their alternate merch. Looks like the Sod Poodles this year played a couple games as the Amarillo "Calf Fries".

In case you're unaware, Calf Fries are a nickname for fried bull testicles. According to the Amarillo team, these things sold like crazy. They shipped them out to 44 out of 50 states here in America. The Sod Poodles President and General Manager released a statement on their most recent award below.

“I could not be prouder of our team for winning Minor League Baseball’s Organization of the Year Award,” said Sod Poodles President and General Manager Tony Ensor. “This award represents all the collective passion and hard work that goes into creating what we think is the best experience in baseball. And It recognizes everyone from our full-time and seasonal staffs, players and coaches, community partners, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Elmore Sports Group and the most important part of our team, the Amarillo community. This is a very proud day for everyone associated with our organization.”

This award that the Sod Poodles got is for all of minor league baseball. I highly encourage everyone to make a road trip to Amarillo to go check out a game at some point next year. I know I'm going back for sure.
