A natural gas outage in Jacksboro has many residents and business left out in the cold - literally.

Texas Gas Service has reported that water in one of the main supply lines has forced them to cut off gas service to the town. The outage forced school officials to release students and faculty early for the day.

Texas Gas Services has brought in extra crews to try and get the service restored as soon as possible. Tankers with compressed natural gas have been dispatched to help restore service to the hospital.

For those without heat The City of Jacksboro has set up emergency shelters at First National Bank-Scarbrough Center on Main and at the Jack County Fair Barn on State Highway 59.

Jacksboro ISD superintendent Dennis Bennet says classes are canceled for Friday due to the outage.
