A New Talent Competition In Lawton Comes With Real Cash Prizes

Lawton's International Festival Committee announced Friday, July 17, that it will host a talent competition this fall. Lawton Has Talent will take place Saturday, Nov. 7, and applications are now being accepted.

The International Festival is an annual event hosted by the International Festival Committee, which is overseen by the City of Lawton's Arts and Humanities Division. The festival takes place annually during the last weekend of September. This year's festival is set for Sept. 25-27 in Elmer Thomas Park.

Lawton Has Talent is set to be a fundraiser for Lawton's annual International Festival. The talent competition's entry fee is $50 for single performers and $100 for acts with multiple performers. However, there is no fee to apply for the competition; if selected to perform, the entry fee will be required.

Applications are available online and are due by 5 p.m. on Sept. 15. Applications must include a 1:30 minute video of talent sent to arts@lawtonok.gov by the application due date. Applicants must be 15 years of age or older.

Lawton Has Talent's grand prize will be $1,000.

Lawton Has Talent will award prizes to the first, second and third place winners.

• First Place - $1,000
• Second Place - $750
• Third Place - $500

The talent competition will also recognize the contestant who sells the most tickets to the performance on Nov. 7 with the Most Spirited Awardtexoma
