Summer 2025 Brings Only Six 100 Degree Days to North Texas
This summer felt different in North Texas. In a good way! Instead of weeks of brutal triple-digit heat, the region only had six days that reached 100 degrees or higher. That’s the lowest number of 100-degree days in years. Even more surprising, those hot days only happened between July 29 and July 31.
So these temperatures were recorded specifically in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We actually had thirteen 100-degree-plus days here in Wichita Falls by my count. That still ain't bad! But, dang, they had a nice summer in Dallas.

Meteorologists point to a combination of weather patterns and environmental factors that kept the worst of the heat at bay. Moist ground absorbs and releases heat differently from dry soil, giving the atmosphere fewer opportunities to climb into extreme territory.

The National Weather Service noted that while the cooler summer is a welcome reprieve, it doesn’t necessarily signal a long-term shift in climate trends. For now, though, residents are simply savoring what may be remembered as one of the most tolerable summers in years. It is a bit of a brief pause from the relentless heat that has become a hallmark of Texas weather.
