UPDATE TO ORIGINAL STORY

An organizer with the 'No Kings' Protest reached out to me and wanted to clarify the meaning behind this rally on October 18th. I have put their full statement below:

Kings 2 is not anti-Trump personally; he’s the figurehead of this administration therefore he is shorthand for “this administration under his presidency”. Just as those anti and “f-Biden etc. sentiments flew around; when in the seat you get the heat! Our biggest concern for this and any gathering is safety. Second is the ability to speak and assemble freely; clearly stated in the US Constitution, Bill of Rights. The Wichita Falls Indivisible team feels safety and the ability to express opinions freely is paramount to this community event.

We are a local non-partisan grassroots organization with guidance and mentorship from the national Indivisible organization originating in Washington D.C. Our local motto is “more unites us than divided us”.I just wanted to clarify; We enter kings 2 on 18 October as a coalition of community members to provide support and information to this community regarding how we can combine and raise our voices against what we see as this administration’s disregard for our constitution. We also know corruption and cruelty resulting from disregard and elimination of programs and policies designed to protect and support people and families and communities is not the American way.
And most importantly to begin the work of helping and advocating for those with concerns and needs beyond their means.None of this can be solved in a day but beginning conversations and educating ourselves and each other is a beginning. Actually a continuation; other rally’s and protests here in the area have provided outlets for people who are frustrated and angry and scared. But no property damage, fights or injury has occurred. We’d like to keep it that way!It is open to all-come with questions, ideas, solutions. If you do not agree with the platform you are still welcome if debate can be peaceful and open.

ORIGINAL STORY BELOW:

Over the summer one of these took place on President Trump's birthday. Looks like the organization wants to have another protest and one is scheduled for Wichita Falls.

According to the 'No Kings' website, their goal is simple. "NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan; it is the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, shouted by millions, carried on posters and chants, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.

The last time this event went on in Wichita Falls, it said it was a private event and you had to RSVP before. They would then email you with the location it was taking place. According to the No Kings Website this time, the event is taking place at Hamilton Park from 11AM-1PM next Saturday.

What Will Happen at a 'No Kings' Protest?

According to the site, "At events, attendees will receive Know Your Rights cards, or instructions on how to download them, to empower us to keep demanding that our rights are respected. We’ll also use it to start a conversation about how we're going to fight back and care for each other with our communities."

We will wait and see how an Anti-Trump protest goes in Wichita Falls.
