
When It Comes to Truck Stops, Truckers Love Texas
Today I learned that truckers are big fans of the Lone Star State. I can’t say that I blame them, although I am a bit biased. What can I say? I’ve never met a Texan who didn’t love their home state.
While I’ve never driven a semi, I come from a family of truckers, so I’ve been around them my whole life. Hell, I even considered getting into the trucking business a couple of times in my life. That was before I got this gig, of course.

One thing I know about them is that they’re particular about the truck stops they frequent. For one thing, they’re looking to rest at a safe location. I’ve heard stories about being harassed when spending the night in a rough part of town.
However, a recent study by Lance Surety Bonds found that while unsafe surroundings were a dealbreaker for 51% of the truckers surveyed, it wasn’t the top reason for choosing a truck stop.
It turns out that the biggest dealbreaker for a truck stop was broken or dirty bathrooms, with 59% of the truckers saying they would stop elsewhere. As a total germophobe, I can’t say that I blame them.
The study also found that truckers ranked Texas as the best state for truck stops. On top of that, Dallas was named the best city for truck stops. Let’s hear it for Texas, the truck stop champion of the world.
