Elida’s ‘Juntos Hasta Morir’ Was Supposed To Be A Collab with Oscar De La Rosa
"Juntos Hasta Morir" might be one of the top Tejano songs of the 2010's. This was a huge collaboration of Elida Reyna Y Grupo Avante and Jesse Turner from Siggno in 2011. But Elida had originally had another Tejano artist in mind for the collab - Oscar De La Rosa from La Mafia.
The song was written by Lucky Joe and Lalo Rayna III, who is also Elida's drummer and husband. The track went on to win "Song of the Year" at the 2012 Tejano Music Awards.
Recording with Oscar was on Elida's 'bucket list.'
Thanks to a recent episode of Bumper's Wacky Wednesday, we learned that Elida had envisioned the collaboration happening with Oscar from La Mafia. She describes it as one of her "bucket list" collaborations. However, the collaboration did not happen.
The Jesse/Elida collaboration was meant to be.
When this happened, the band was in a rush to finish the album "Siplemente EYA." At that time, Jesse Turner just happened to be in the studio and walked by to say hi. That was the start to an iconic song. Let's just say, Jesse's girlfriend, had a little something to do with Jesse's final decision to record the song, which brought us an iconic hit.
