A former Texas Tech Red Raider Ludvig Aberg placed 2nd at the 88th annual Masters Tournament held in Augusta, Georgia.

The 24-year-old golf pro attended Texas Tech University and played on the golf team for four years before turning pro in 2023. He was the top-ranked amateur in the world and a three-time First Team All-American selection when he played at Tech.

He is a native of Eslov, Sweden. The Masters was his first start in a major championship.

Aberg finished second in the 2024 Masters Tournament with an overall finish of seven under par. He trailed only World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who won his second Masters in three years.
“Playing here at Augusta National is a dream come true,” Åberg said afterward. “Just to be in this situation and feel the nerves and feel the pressure walking down the last couple holes is what you dream of. This is what I have been wanting to do for such a long time, and it's quite surreal to actually have the opportunity to experience it. But I'm so proud of me, myself and all of the people on my team and my family and everyone involved.”
This is Aberg's first trip to the Augusta National Golf Club for the Masters. He finished runner-up in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February and eighth in The Players Championship in March.
He has one win on the PGA Tour, winning the 2023 RSM Classic with a score of 29 under par, four strokes ahead of second-place Mackenzie Hughes.

Rory McIlroy finishes third at Valero for his highest PGA TOUR finish of 2024.
