One of the storm chasers can be heard exclaiming, “I have not seen something like this,” as they watched the tornado rage on for a full 20 minutes. The National Weather Service in Lubbock quickly issued a tornado warning, urging everyone to stay safe until 9:15 p.m. Fortunately, by then, the tornado had already dissipated near Caprock Canyons State Park, over 20 miles from where it initially formed.

The storm chasers couldn’t contain their amazement. “Look at where we are right now,” one man is heard saying. Another marveled at the tornado’s “gorgeous” form, while excited shouts of “God bless America” and “Holy cow” echoed in the background. One hopeful chaser added, “I hope no one was out there.”

Luckily, no injuries were reported from this powerful storm. This incredible footage is a must-see for weather enthusiasts and thrill-seekers alike. For those who live for the thrill of the chase, this Texas tornado was the ultimate prize.

Tornado Records from Around the Country

With tornadoes on our minds the last few days, I started to wonder about many of the tornado records. How many in one day, biggest outbreak, strongest tornado in history, etc... While we all feel Oklahoma is the home of terrible tornadoes, the stats are somewhat surprising.
