Wichita Falls and surrounding areas have been suffering the effects of a severe drought for quite sometime, with the city officially entering stage 4 drought disaster on November 16, 2013.

The City of Wichita Falls has documented just how devastating the drought has been on one of our water sources, Lake Arrowhead, by taking photos of the lake in July of 2009, January of 2013 and August of 2013, from several different locations around the lake from the exact same perspectives. The series of photos depict just how low the lake has become due to the drought.

City officials say that the reduction of water shown in the photos should serve as a tremendous message to everyone about just how important water conservation is now and until we see relief through significant rains.
