Once again, Texas is the best-us. The lone star state can now claim 2 of the best beaches in the United States of America according to a new beach index.

The 2026 hometogo beach index ranked US beaches based on several things like cost of lodging, affordability, a "hidden gem" score, average temperature and more. To see how they scored those factors, click here.

Out of 100 beaches, Texas landed 2 in the top 10 and a 3rd made the top 40.

If you're planning a beach vacation this summer, you have plenty of options across the USA. The hometogo ranking should help you narrow your options. If you want beach life but don't want to leave Texas; it will really dial you in.

All 3 Texas beaches are near Galveston, Texas. Crystal Beach cracked the top 40 at #36. The 2 Texas beaches that made the top 10 were Jamaica Beach, (#3) and Terramar Beach. (#6)

Both the top 10 beaches are pretty affordable with visitors dropping about $93 a night for lodging at Jamaica Beach and about $86 a night at Terramar Beach.

How Were The Best US Beaches Ranked?

To determine the rankings, HomeToGo created a shortlist of 100 U.S. beaches where vacation accommodations had a median price per person of less than $200 per night. The list was then ranked based on five metrics: a "hidden gem" score; the median nightly price for accommodations; average high temperatures from April to September; average visitor satisfaction based on Google, Tripadvisor, Yelp, and Facebook reviews; and a "local secret" score based on the average distance traveled by vacationers to reach the destination. - austinculturemap

Pro Tip: Be careful digging on Texas beaches. Keep an eye out for dragons, (not reptilian), and beach combing rattlesnakes, (totally reptilian), too.
