The Midwestern State women did everything right for one half of the basketball game, it just wasn't the right one. Tarleton State used a strong second half to catch up and close out MSU, 57-51.

MSU destroyed Tarleton on the glass in the first half, outrebounding the TexAnns 26-10. With sixteen of those boards being on the offensive glass, Midwestern was able to outscore TSU 11-2 in second chance points.

MSU senior guard Kirsti Degelia paced the Mustangs with 10 first half points. For the TexAnns, Kiara Wright was held in check with just 2 points and 1 rebound. Midwestern took a 31-24 lead into the locker room at the half.

Tarleton's Kiara Wright got motivated in the second frame, lighting up the Mustangs for 13 points and 14 rebounds. MSU's Degelia couldn't keep up the pace, only logging 2 second half points and fouling out late in the game.

TSU's defense clamped down on the Mustangs, holding MSU to just 26.9% shooting in the second half. Rebounding flipped as well, finding TSU grabbing 28 to MSU's 12.

With the loss, Midwestern falls to 2-3 in LSC conference play. The TexAnns stay unbeaten and atop the standings. These two teams meet again in Stephenville on February 5. Tip-off is set for 6pm.
