Though the original films have been lost, a rare copy of a film showing the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese on December 7, 1941 has recently surfaced.

The video shows the  USS Nevada firing at Japanese aircraft, the USS Oglala sinking and the USS St. Louis is also seen smoldering from attack early on a Sunday morning.  The film footage was found at the Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington.

The Oglala was sunk, but was later salvaged and recommissioned in 1944.  The St. Louis suffered minor damage and was salvaged.  The Nevada suffered extreme damage and was beached during the attack.
