Skeletal Remains Identified
Skeletal remains discovered off Waurika Highway earlier this year have now been identified. According to a Wichita Falls Police Department press release, the remains are those of William E. McConnell, Jr. McConnell had walked away from a nearby business in the spring of 2002 and was never heard from again. A passerby exploring a wooded area near a railroad track located the skeletal remains on May 14th of this year. The clothed body was found beneath the shade of a tree just off the 1900 block of Waurika Highway. A co-worker had made the missing person report on June 10th, 2002. According to the report, no one had seen McConnell for about a month. No relatives were ever located and periodic checks of national databases turned up nothing. The report had indicated that McConnell suffered from several medical conditions. The Tarrant County Coroners office identified the remains using medical records. There were no signs of foul play.
