Texas Teacher Charged with Improper Relationship with a Student
A former 'Teacher of the Year' from Round Rock, TX has been arrested and accused of sexual abuse after an improper relationship with a student.
Last week, officials from Round Rock High School notified parents that they were made aware of an improper relationship between 36-year-old Randi Chaverria and one of her male students. Officials told KVUE that Chaverria was already on personal leave when the accusations were made public on November 18th. The following day, Chaverria resigned from her position as a family sciences teacher and turned herself into the Williamson County Jail.
The student told officials that Chaverria had sexual contact with him at least twice in the classroom during October. Officials reviewed text messages between the student and Chaverria and found them to support the student's accusations.
