Bus Crash Claims Ten Lives in West Texas [VIDEO]
Sheriff officials and DPS are investigating a fatal bus crash that occurred earlier today in Ector County just west of Odessa.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials say the Texas Department of Criminal Justice bus was traveling west on I-20 transporting inmates from Middleton prison in Abilene to the Sanchez prison in El Paso when it skidded off an icy bridge, slid down an embankment and slammed into a train.
According to a report from the Associated Press, there were 12 prisoners and three Texas Department of Corrections officials on board the bus at the time of the crash.
The ten people who were killed in the crash include eight prisoners and two guards.
The bus driver may have lost control because of an earlier accident on the Interstate 20 overpass.
