First Ever Red Bull Rapids USA Event, is in Oklahoma?

Ahhhh yes, when I think of rapids, I think of Oklahoma.

Who doesn't love the homemade Red Bull events? Without a doubt their most popular one is the Flugtag. Where people make homemade vehicles to fling off a high surface into some water. The goal is to "fly", 99% of the people just plummet into the water, it's a lot of fun to watch every year.

What I did not know about is a very similar event, The Red Bull Rapids. Where people make homemade vehicles and put them through a whitewater rapids course. I have never heard about this and I think it is because it has NEVER happened in America. I found footage from one a few years ago in Australia below.

When I think of white water rapids in America, Colorado probably comes to mind, maybe California? For the first ever American Red Bull Rapids event...Oklahoma. Coming up on August 27th, the Red Bull Rapids will be taking over the Oklahoma City Riversport. You must be at least 18 to form a team. Minimum of two per craft and a max of five.

If you're interested in registering, you can fill out an application here. You have until May 26th to get registered and then the event is just three months away after that. I always wanted to go to one of these Red Bull events and now that one is going to be just two hours away from us. I guess I have to.

Any company in Wichita Falls want to build one for me for some free advertising? I will totally "drive" the thing and try not to drown.
