The Department of Defense has awarded Sheppard Elementary a $500,000 grant for technology upgrades and improvements.  The DoD grant program is tailored for schools that serve military families.

According to WFISD news release, the DoD grant will be dispersed over a five year period.  Among the coming upgrades will be ‘box light’ TV panels for math classes, iPads and teacher training.  The first $100,000 distribution will come during the 2015-16 school year and will be used for training purposes.

Sheppard Elementary was built in 1953 to serve students living on the base.  The school serves around 300 students.
