Early voting in the Texas primary election gets underway on February 18 and all eyes are once again on the massive 13th Congressional district.  The district stretches from Dallam County in the far northwest corner of the Texas Panhandle, reaches as far south as Jones and Palo Pinto Counties and east into Cooke County, encompassing 44 counties in all.  According to the Cook Partisan Voting Index, it was the most Republican district in the nation for the 2004 and 2008 election cycles.

Incumbent Mac Thornberry has held the seat since 1995, longer than any other incumbent in the districts history.  One of Thornberry’s challengers is Dr. Pamela Barlow.  Dr. Barlow is a retired U.S Army officer, a native Texas and a veterinarian.  Her practice is in Bowie.  Dr. Barlow joined us recently on ‘The Rise and Shine Show’ to discuss her run for the office, her vision of what the 13th congressional district (and America) needs and how she might arrive at those goals.  Click the player below to hear Dr. Barlow’s interview.
