75 Year Old Woman Survives in a Ditch After a Car Accident Just Outside of Wichita Falls
Wanda Mobley is lucky to be alive after her car accident. She was able to survive in the brutal Texas heat with some soda and pond water that was nearby.
Wanda Mobley was in the Seymour area driving to Oklahoma for a family reunion. She says she swerved out of the way of something in the middle of the road. The quick maneuver forced her car to flip into a ditch on the side of the highway. She was able to pull herself through the broken windshield, but was not able to make it back up to Highway 183.
Mobley described the hours she spent hearing the occasional vehicle pass above her but being too weak and scared to crawl through the brushy area. Her cellphone couldn't get any service. She able to survive the next two days on some soda from her car and nearby pond water.
Mobley — who fractured her back in the accident — was listed in good condition Tuesday at United Regional Health Care System in nearby Wichita Falls, according to hospital spokeswoman Kim Maddin. "I'm feeling better," said Mobley, who has four children, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. "Whenever they found me, I was pretty weak."
Mobley, who hopes to soon be discharged to a rehabilitation unit, said she had long been comfortable driving on her own, but not anymore. She also said she never gave up hope. Hope she has a great rehab and glad to see she made it out of there alive.
