It started with a single Christmas tree on the front porch of the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Burns in the late 1920's.  Over the years, the Burns family displays grew, but with the death of Mrs. Burns in 1971, the whole collection went into storage.  In 1974, the collection was offered to Midwestern State University and the rest, as they say, is history.

The MSU-Burns Fantasy of Lights Christmas display will light up a little earlier this year.  Responding to feedback from area residents, the committee that oversees the annual display decided to flip the switch a week earlier this year.

On Monday morning (November 17), Dr. Joey Greenwood of Midwestern State University dropped by 'The Rise and Shine Show' to talk about why they've decided to open the display early and how vital public support really is to keep this annual tradition alive.
