Drinking and driving is hardly a laughing matter, but one funny man has driven home the point with a nearly not-so-funny twist.  According to the Centers for Disease Control, in 2010, 10,228 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (31%) of all traffic-related deaths in the United States.  No laughing matter there at all.

An unidentified friend of web prankster and comedian Tom Mabe gets a serious, albeit humorous, ‘awakening’ about his habitual drinking and driving.  The man’s family gave their permission to Mabe and company to set up the ‘hospital room’ and video the prank.  The man has already racked up five DUI’s, so Mabe and other friends decide it was time to take matters in their own hands with a somewhat unconventional intervention.   So far, over 300,000 have viewed the prank on YouTube.

The man awakes and is promptly told he's spent the last decade in a coma.  Welcome to 2023, Mr. Drunk.  Mabe told the Huffington Post that he posted the video in hopes that it might discourage others from driving drunk.

I have to say though, the Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber references make me laugh.  And they seem quite plausible, really they do.
