Train, Car Collision Claims One Life, Closes FM 369 and Old Iowa Park Road Intersection

Emergency personnel and investigators are on the scene of train vs. car accident that has resulted in at least one fatality at the railroad crossing on FM 369 at Iowa Park Road in Wichita Falls.

According to police, a woman was killed sometime around noon when a train hit her vehicle.

DPS has identified the victim as Helen Gavin, 91, of Holliday.  According to officers at the scene, Gavin was northbound on FM 369 when her car was struck by the  train.  Her car may have stalled on the tracks.

As of 4:15 pm, DPS was still on the scene wrapping up their investigation.  The train was being cleared from the scene as of 3:25 pm.  An official from BNSF said the crossing should be re-opened by 5 pm.
