As part of an effort to be a bike friendly community, the home of the Hotter 'N Hell Hundred is finally getting bike lanes.

The traffic engineering department started work on the city's first official bike lanes on Hamilton Boulevard and Hampstead Lane last week, with plans to finish soon. City planners ultimately hope to create connections to and from major city hubs. Chip Filer, Executive Director of the HHH, said,

We absolutely love the idea of bike lanes. That's one of the things that's going to try to help us become a bike friendly community. The one on Hamilton and Hampsted are just the start of what we need to do in this community.

We need to get a lot more of them and we have a lot of streets on the city that we can put bike lanes on and the more we have the better.

KFDX reminds citizens that parking or driving in a bike lane could result in a citation.
