Thank God Michael Bloomberg is NOT a Texan.  If he were, I’d start a petition today to revoke his citizenship and have him deported to Canada.  He proves beyond a doubt that wealth, power and position do not require much in the way of brains.  Bloomberg, appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday said:

“You’d think that if a congresswoman got shot in the head, that would have changed Congress’ views...I can tell you how to change it, just get Congress to come with me to the hospital when I’ve got tell somebody that their son or daughter, their spouse, their parent is not going to come home ever again. This past week, sadly, even though the murder rate in New York is so much lower than almost every big city, we still had a cop shot last week with a gun that somebody had even though the federal laws prohibited that person from having a gun.”

Bloomberg is a longtime advocate of stricter gun control laws.  But he just ‘disarmed’ his own point of view with that very statement.  Laws already on the books prohibit the person accused of shooting the cop from having a gun, but yet he had one and used it.  Now, tell me Mr. and Mrs. America, just how will disarming you and I, the law-abiding, tax-paying, bought-our-weapons-legally public stop that kind of thing from happening?  It won’t.  It will just create more victims and will make criminals of all those of us who’ll be damned if they’ll disarm us!

You see, Mr. Bloomberg fails to recognize that 2nd Amendment to our Constitution is NOT subject to modification at the whim of congress.  Congress has NO power to simply, arbitrarily modify, negate or eliminate the 2nd amendment.  But, the courts can legislate from the bench, as they have proven they are willing to do and last time our 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms faced the Supremes (McDonald et al v. City of Chicago et al-2010) we squeaked by with a 5-4 decision.

Bloomberg’s Super Bowl ad alongside Boston Mayor Tom Menino states they ‘support’ the Second Amendment.  But Bloomberg and other leaders in our nation just don’t get it.  They favor more laws as the answer to the gun ‘problem’.  More gun control laws do nothing to stop the bad guys from getting a weapon if they want one.  We have plenty of laws on the books to deal with ‘felon in possession’ situations and so forth.  “But what about stopping the criminal’s before they hurt someone?”  Let me lay a bit of reality on you that most politicians probably will not: all that you and I can do is be prepared to either flee or protect ourselves when someone attacks us.  No additional laws are going to help ‘predict’ who will hurt whom and how.  Not gonna happen.  I, for one, refuse to be forced to flee my home, or my car to avoid being attacked.  I will use force to defend myself, my family and my property. It is my right to do so.

So why are gun control head cases like Bloomberg so bent on enacting more laws?  For one, they are clearly ignorant of the laws that exist and the function of the 2nd Amendment; they really believe that circumventing the rights of all will somehow curb the evil-doers.  Silly mayors!  For another, perhaps they just crave the power that comes from additional controls over the public at-large.  They just like the word “control” a bit too much.  One way or another, you and I have a responsibility to ourselves and to our children and future generations of Americans to protect our God given constitutional rights.  We must fight to ensure that our right to arm and defend ourselves is never, ever threatened, especially by power-mongering activist judges.  Our constitution, contrary to what Ruth Bader Ginsburg would like you to believe, is just fine.  It is the standard by which our government is supposed to operate.  Mayor Bloomberg, hands off!
