
Yet Another Major Marijuana Bust On US 287
It's the gift that just keeps on giving. The US 287 corridor has long held a reputation for being a major drug smuggling corridor. But lately, the busts are coming at a feverish pace.
Today, Clay County Sheriff Kenny Lemons reports that Deputy Josh Ferguson made a traffic stop on U.S. 287 near New York Road. The suspect vehicle was a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 'Subsequent investigation revealed approximately 50 pounds of marijuana and the seizure of approximately $4500', according to Sheriff Lemons.
The suspect is describe as a 40 year-old white male. He will be formally charged on Thursday. We'll have the suspects name, mug shot and bond info at that time.
